WHAT IS AGAKA YOUTH?

Aksyon sa Gawasnong Kabataan or AGAKA Youth is a local youth movement in Iligan City, community-minded student volunteers aged between 18 to 23 years old. We work as partners-in-service with our parent organization, Aksyon sa Gawasnong Katawhan.

AGAKA Youth strongly advocates environment, good governance, peace, and other pressing social issues of Iligan City today. The group offers an avenue to develop leadership potentials, an avenue to enhance talents, skills and effective oral communication.

AGAKA Youth provide excellent training ground for future leaders in the community, as well as a great network for youth development projects and socializing, and the chance to give something back to our city Iligan.

In the fulfillment of our dreams, we the members of the AGAKA dramatize these guiding principles to bring forth a direction commitment to God, Equality, Freedom, Justice and Harmony and Peace.

OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES

The party’s foremost commitment to our people is to bring forth a government committed to God, equality, freedom, justice, harmony and peace.

a. FAITH IN GOD: Faith in God is at the core of our beliefs. It gives value to human life and a purpose for building a society that shall bring forth the true worth of individual persons.

b. EQUALITY: Equality is a necessary condition for the development of individual personality. It is the expression of the equal moral worth of all human beings and the precondition for the real development of the human personality. Basic economic, social and cultural equality is essential for individual diversity and social progress.

c. FREEDOM: Freedom is a necessary condition to build a society where individual citizens can genuinely prosper and are able to pursue their dreams and aspirations, develop their talents, maximize their potential and are able to exercise real power over the institutions that govern their lives.

d. JUSTICE: Justice means respect of the equal moral worth of each citizen and the recognition the equality of rights and opportunities. It demands freedom from social, economic and political inequalities and dependence on either the owners of the means of production or the holders of political power.

e. HARMONY AND PEACE: Peace and harmony among peoples regardless of gender, race, creed, social status, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, and language is a precondition for attaining a free, equitable and just society. It is a basic value of common interest to all political systems and necessary for human society. Conflicts, especially armed conflicts, destroy human life and the basis for social development.
